FAQs about Troutman Photography

What happens in a photography consultation?

A portrait consultation allows you to get to know us, and is part of what makes Troutman Photography so unique. We use the consultation time to organize your shoot. We talk about what to bring, what to wear, where we are going, what images we are shooting, what you want your images to convey - we talk about it all.  This helps you be more comfortable on the day of your portrait session.

When do I need to make my photography appointment?

Please schedule your time as soon as you can. Troutman Photography puts more time into your shoot, and everything is tailored to you and your needs. Imported leather albums and professional artwork take time and we try to only shoot one client a day. Please give us as much lead time as possible. Typically projects run about 6 weeks from planning to product delivery.  This can vary based on time of year.  Yearbook pictures are rushed after the minimum payment is made.

How long will my photo session be?

We don’t start a stopwatch when we pick up the camera.  We shoot until we’re done. You aren’t billed for a specific amount of images or clothing changes.  Headshots run about 45 minutes. Families with young children and smash cake photography sessions are usually about an hour and a half.  Boudoir portraits are typically around two and a half hours, plus hair and makeup. Senior pictures run the longest, normally around 3 hours.

How much does professional photography cost?

Our clients’ investments start around $800. Normal purchases include leather albums, canvas collages, metal artwork and digital images.

How much do professional headshots cost?

Professional headshots start at $299.  You session includes 45 minutes of shooting time and 2 fully edited images. Clothing changes are encouraged.

Do you charge for travel?

We don’t charge for most travel.  We shoot all over the Willamette Valley without an additional fee.  We do charge for shooting in Bend, Ashland and Pendleton. Troutman Photography also travels out of state and globally for photography - just ask!

What does an 8x10 cost?

8x10s are available as prints, canvas, metals, acrylics and on bamboo.  8x10s start at $89.00

Do you provide digital negatives (RAW files) after the shoot?

No, RAW images are not provided. Professionally edited digital images are available with your order and we provide access to a commercial printing lab so we know our clients are receiving high quality images when they print their artwork.

How do I book a photography appointment?

You can book an appointment on our website: www.troutmanphotography.com/make-an-appointment, or you can call us at (503) 871-5505.

What if I have NO idea what products or pictures to order?

That’s ok - most people don’t know what products they are going to want when they come in.  We’ll coach you through it. Remember, we help clients pick out their best portraits everyday.  And we love what we do, we’re happy to help.

How long until I get my pictures?

Pictures and art products are produced after payment is finalized.  It normally takes around a month. Headshots and yearbook images are rushed through. If you need your order completed sooner we offer an expedited plan at an additional cost.

Do you offer photography payment plans?

Yes, we offer no-interest payment plans for our clients.  Please ask for more information.

Do you retain copyright on our photos?

Yes, photographers always maintain copyright without signed legal documentation stating they have given up their rights.  However, if you purchase digital copies of the images you can print them as much as you like and share the images with friends and family.  We want you to be able to share your experience with the people around you.
