Senior pictures with your Boyfriend or Girlfriend. Is it a good idea?

Unfortunately parents often don't want the significant other to join in.  While we are shooting pictures for the high senior we also have to remember that it's the mom and dad that are paying the bill and this gives them just a bit of say in what we photograph.  So how do you solve this little stand off without causing a civil war with in the family? We look at both sides of the issues and we compromise.

There is no better day at the office than Cake Smash Day!  What's not to love?? Whether you admit it or not it's safe to assume that you have watched a few cats videos in your time.  Am I right?  Of course I am.  Everybody loves a good photo or video of a furry feline being stripped of it's dignity for the amusement of it's owners. Nothing cracks up a room full of should be working employees like a video of a cat being startled by a cucumber or perhaps a fat tabby riding a Roomba.

Mr. Wallace's Smashed Cake

Then it was time to get to the main event and smash some cake!  Now here's the cool thing I've noticed after doing tons of cake smash sessions.  Instead of plowing into the cake and stuffing their chubby little faces, the first thing they do is share!  Mr. Wallace was no exception.  With a huge grin on his face he offered his mommy the first bite.  
After sharing with mom it was time to get down to the business of some serious cake eating and smashing.  Mr. Man smashed the cake, stuffed his face and squished frosting between every cute little finger and toe.

They were running around having a blast tossing a giant photo reflector around like a Frisbee and generally doing what kids do.  At this point mom and dad were a little concerned but honestly with high energy children it's all about directing the energy rather than trying to stop it.  The most genuine smiles come from when kids are having fun.  So I occasionally start a game of catch with my reflectors because the kids can't hurt them.  After that the kids realize I'm there to play it changes the whole dynamic of the shoot.
